Dana Jane Bonney joined car2go in Hamburg two and a half years ago and works as Agile Coach für our App and B2B Team ever since. Learn more about the importance of an Agile Coach, why this is her dream Job and how she found a second family within car2go.
What does a day in the life of an Agile Coach look like?
“It depends” is an answer you would hear quite often from an Agile Coach which also fits this question. Seriously, my daily schedule is very different every day.
If one of my teams has a Sprint Change then my day is packed with sessions I will attend and also host. If I am conducting a training for my colleagues I will travel to the location and work with a group of a people on a certain topic.
Maybe there is a workshop or offsite to host, then I would spend my day preparing the location, hosting the session and helping the people work through a topic.
If neither is the case, then I will coach my team mates individually or keep up-to-date on the happenings within our company or outside in the Agile and Coaching world.
How did you become an Agile Coach?
My journey in becoming an Agile Coach is not very straight forward. It all began in my former company when a major restructuring took place and I was offered to move from my former position into the Project Management Department.
I took the chance to try out something new and over time moved more and more into the direction of working with an Agile Mindset. Then, my first attendance of the Agile Coach Camp in Rückersbach sparked a fire within me that is growing bigger and bigger over time and actually gave me my identity as a coach.
It started a journey in getting to know who I am and who I want to be for others. I am still on this journey and learning every single day something new.
What do you love most about your job?
The teams. I love working with my colleagues. They are all really amazing. We respect each other and make sure no one is ever excluded.
There is space to be who one really is and there is no need to pretend to be something you are not.
If you didn’t become an Agile Coach, what would you be doing?
I have always done the things that I wanted to do and Coaching is the thing I want to do now.
Describe car2go in three terms:
Family. Friendship. Food.
What is important for you in working life?
I want to be able to live my emotions and not having to suppress them and pretending to be “professional”. Having the freedom to experiment and “play around” are very important for me.
Last but not least I need feel that I have opportunities to grow and learn every day something new.
Why is working for car2go special?
The people in my team are awesome and feel like family. We give each other the space we need and deeply respect everyone around.
What’s the first thing you do as soon as you arrive at the office?
Opening the windows! Since the air in our office is very stuffy in the morning I will first walk to the windows and let in some fresh air.
Would you let us hook up your “Recently Played” list on Spotify to the office speakers?
Sure, currently it is a mix of “Not on Tour”, ROE and my workout playlist “Pumpen”.
Thanks a lot for answering our questions, Dana!
